Justice in Hiring & Managing Helpers
Working with a recruitment agency to hire a worker can be tricky. Many agencies follow unethical business practices – they charge people for poor customer service and bad matches, and at the same time, charge illegal and excessive recruitment fees to domestic helpers. Bad recruitment practices fail households in need of reliable support and family care, and put domestic helpers in debt bondage. At the same time, it can be challenging for employers to adjust to a live-in worker who comes from a different cultural background.
On Helper’s Appreciation Day, join us after service at Ebenezer for a special session (with lunch provided) led by Vivian Gee, CEO of Fair Employment Foundation, about how to uphold justice in hiring and managing helpers. Even if you don’t think you’ll ever hire a helper, your effort to learn is honouring to all helpers and will equip you to advocate to employers and potential employers in your community.
