Living Distinctively
Faith Under Trial
It is easy to say we have faith when everything is going well. But when life doesn’t go our way and we face trials of various kinds, that is when our faith gets tested. We will be tempted to respond badly, but James urges us to instead let God use it to refine and mature our faith, the key to which is to really put our faith into practice. As we go through the book of James together, may our motto likewise be “No pain, no gain.”
The Character of GOD and The Songs of Man
The book of Psalms is the Prayer Book of the Bible and for centuries Christians have used the Psalms as a basis for drawing near to God in prayer. In this series, we discover eight characteristics of God, and how we – like the men and women of old – can use these Psalms to fuel our own prayer and worship of God as we discover who He is.
Job
The book of Job is an intense reflection on how our faith handles unjust suffering. All of us will face suffering, all of us will experience pain, but the book of Job asks whether it is possible to still have faith even when confronted with such extreme suffering. The book of Job does not answer all of our questions but it does show us what faith in the faithfulness of God looks like, even in the midst of great evil and unjust suffering.
