We’re continuing our series interviewing people in the congregation about how the gospel shapes their lives. This week, we’ve spoken to one of our youth, Mharclyde, who is an exciting 12 year-old youth who just joined Youth from Kid’s Ministry this year. He is very energetic when it comes to basketball and sports, but the energy all runs out when it comes to homework! Nonetheless, he works hard to finish his homework so that he can get into his sports. He loves to try new things and is quite brave! He is really looking forward to learning skateboarding even though he does not have one. But he is saving up for that!

As a Christian, what difference has that brought in your life?

Being a Christian, one of the first things I realized is that I need to stop using bad words while at school. I realized that I cannot go on doing that as God is righteous, something I picked up in the Kid’s Ministry. But over the years I have been seeing that God is not just righteous, but so much more. I used to see God as just one of the many ‘gods’ out there and that God is just a nice guy who is perfect. But now I am seeing that God is the one who created everything and is really glorious. I see that Jesus has given Himself for me and that He is the only true God. Coming to know all this, I can see that my life has become better and that it has made me closer to God.

How is your school life as a Christian?

In school, I keep my distance from friends that are up to no good. I see that there are friends that can be a bad influence on me and make sure that I do not get too close to them. I do talk with them and tell them that they should not be doing bad things, but I am not sure how they receive my advice.

What is your dream? What do you want to do in life?

From a very young age, I have always wanted one thing. I want the whole world to know about God and to stop doing bad things. This dream has not changed even after all these years. The other thing that I want to do in the future is to lead my children in the path of righteousness. Though I am young, I have already thought of that! And finally, I want to be successful in life and to start my own business.

Your favorite bible verse?

My favorite verse from the bible is the one my father had given me.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” – John 14:27

This verse helps me overcome my fears and be secure with God. Trusting God, I want to overcome my fear of height and want to go to Africa to try out one of the tallest commercial bungee jumps. I also want to go on and overcome my other fears

This verse also talks about peace, which I want to share with the world as God has given me. I want peace for everyone in the world.
